What is THCa Flower?
THCa, or tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, is the natural, raw form of cannabis. It’s the main cannabinoid found in the plant before it’s exposed to heat. When you light or heat cannabis, THCa goes through a process called decarboxylation, which removes the acid group (“the A”) and transforms it into THC — the well-known compound responsible for cannabis’s psychoactive effects.
Without heat, THC doesn’t actually exist in raw cannabis. That means fresh, unheated flower is rich in THCa, not THC.
In simple terms:
THCa is THC before it gets lit.
